Toledo Geller operates as a collaborative studio, supported by a multidisciplinary team of interior designers, architectural designers, draftspersons, and construction managers. This structure allows us to lead projects holistically - from early planning through execution - while maintaining rigor, continuity, and attention to detail at every stage. Our clients benefit from the depth of a full studio, paired with the clarity of a single design vision.
We believe the most successful spaces feel inevitable - as though the interior could never have been anything else. When a home feels wrong, it’s often because the interior ignores the exterior, or because trends have been prioritized over context. Our work begins with the structure of the house and unfolds through bold color, confident pattern, and thoughtful space planning, resulting in interiors that feel expressive, layered, and enduring.
The studio is led by principals Virginia Toledo and Jessica Geller, whose partnership was formed in 2006. At the time, Virginia was building a young design studio in New York City and Jessica was making a deliberate career shift toward launching her own firm. What began as a Craigslist post quickly revealed a shared design sensibility and a complementary set of strengths. Recognizing the potential of what they could build together, they made the decision to become business partners - laying the foundation for a studio defined by collaboration, rigor, and a clear point of view.
Today, Toledo Geller designs complete residences - from primary residences to second or third homes - for clients who value collaboration and trust the design process. Our best projects are partnerships with people who are thoughtful, curious, and generous in spirit - clients who understand that the strongest results come from allowing ideas to evolve. We design homes meant for gathering, for family, and for real life: spaces that feel warm, layered, and deeply personal, yet always grounded in architecture and restraint. The result is work that feels timeless, unique and quietly confident.
Virginia Toledo
Virginia Toledo co-founded Toledo Geller in 2006 with a clear vision for a residential design studio that could bridge the gap between creative design and technical execution. Formally trained in interior design and shaped by years of hands-on experience working alongside her father, a general contractor, Virginia brings a deeply informed, practical approach to every project - one that balances beauty with buildability.
A Brooklyn native, Virginia is known for her thoughtful attention to architectural detail and her ability to translate complex projects into cohesive, livable homes. Early in her career, she worked in hospitality design, an experience that continues to influence her work today through an emphasis on flow, atmosphere, and how spaces are experienced over time. She has a long-standing interest in boutique hotels and restaurants and dreams of designing spaces that feel immersive, transportive, and welcoming - places that balance elegance with ease.
Outside the studio, Virginia is a mother, an avid reader of historical fiction, and currently immersed in the renovation of her own Tudor Revival home in a lakeside New Jersey community. When she’s not designing, she can often be found on the water, enjoying the quiet rhythm of life at the lake.
Jessica Geller
Jessica Geller came to interior design through an unconventional path, transitioning from a career in social work after leading and project-managing the renovation of a children’s hospital playroom—an experience that instilled a deep respect for precision, coordination, and the importance of getting every detail right. That early work shaped her intuitive yet disciplined approach to design, one that balances emotional intelligence with a rigorous attention to the minutiae that make a space truly successful.
Known for her daring, confident mixing of color, pattern, and furnishings, Jessica creates interiors that feel layered, personal, and lived-in rather than formulaic. She is particularly drawn to combining architectural styles, periods, and materials in ways that feel fresh yet grounded. Her long-standing affinity for the relaxed glamour of Florida - pinks and sunshine, rattan and wicker - has become a natural extension of her design language and is currently being explored through the renovation of her West Palm Beach bungalow.
Jessica resides in Essex Fells, New Jersey, where she continues to evolve her own Dutch Colonial home. Her previous home - another colorful family project - can be seen here. A mother of three, she enjoys time on the tennis court or around a mahjong table when she’s not designing.
